Logan Utah Birth Story // Baby Harrison James Packer //Shanda Call Photography

Her labor wasn't long, and she only had to push about 5 minutes - it was so fast!  4 pushes and out came the gorgeous little guy! And the room lit up with love.  Mom and dad were smitten.  And the little guy had no interest in me, he just wanted to bury his face in mom and be left alone to snuggle mom :)

January 8th around 5am I received a call from Katie's husband saying they were on their way to the hospital to have little baby Harrison James.  I gathered all my gear and headed for the hospital, excited to meet this little family for the first time.  It was just Katie and her husband Bryce, and they were so  excited to be having their little guy.  Katie was as calm as could be and didn't seem to be in too much pain, just a little discomfort, which her husband was constantly at her side to rub her back, or help her shift, or give her a drink.  He was so caring and loving with her and stayed right by her trying to alleviate any discomfort she felt.  Katie drifted in and out of sleep (or just rested her eyes :) )  And occasionally needed to readjust to get more comfortable.

Before we knew it, the nurses said it was time, and that little guy was right there and ready, she ran to get the Dr. and everyone came into the room at once.  I don't think they had expected her to dilate so quickly. The room became a hustle of nurses moving around getting everything in place and ready for Harrison's arrival.  And it was FAST!  As I mentioned, 4 pushes and out he came!  All 7 lbs 11 oz and 19 inches long.  He was promptly handed over to mom to let her give him a quick snuggle before he needed to get to the warming bed because he was a little cold. They took measurements and all the while Harrison was not happy about it, but as soon as they handed him to Katie to do skin to skin, he calmed right down, bobbed his little head up at her, then rested his face right into her - and that's where he wanted to stay!  Everytime we tried to move his head to the side to get a better view of his face, he would cry and turn his head right back into mom.  Little guy just knew where the most comfy place to be was :)

Katie, he was absolutely perfect!  Thank you for letting me be a part of your beautiful day!
