"Before you were conceived I wanted you. Before you were born I loved you. Before you were here for an hour I would die for you. This is the miracle of life." - Maureen Hawkins
This birth session was so near and dear to my heart. I was so excited to be a part of it. Camilla lost her daddy a couple years ago, and having lost my dad a couple years ago also, it made me have a very soft spot in my heart for her. I know what it feels like to want your dad at these important moments - to share in your happiness. And this was a pretty big moment for Camilla - bringing twins into the world. Everything went so well, and the babies were so perfect.
Liam and Ellen are absolutely beautiful babies, and they came into the world surrounded by love. Grandparents, sister, and nannies showed up to shower them with love. Every moment of the birth was so moving. It brought me to tears to watch Camilla - and know that she was wishing her dad could be there. What a beautiful time.
A Note From Camilla (MOM)
When I knew the babies birthday would be on the 5 year anniversary of my dad's death, I was so happy to look forward to that day, instead of the heartache and pain the previous years had carried. This year would be different. This year, God would place a bandaid over my heart and renew my joy and sense of peace, and for a split second, it would be as if my dad was with us again, by sending us his precious grandchildren.
My heart was full of hope when I knew I would be blessed with two times the love & happiness on that day.
On October 22, 2015, at 7:53AM, our hearts were changed forever! We welcomed to the world Ellen Jayne (4lbs 14 oz) at 18 inches long and William (Liam) Shaun (5 lbs 2 oz) at 17.5 inches long. I am so grateful I had a son to name after my dad on such a significant day!
They were delivered by C-Section 40 seconds apart. Liam is the oldest because he came out first, and Ellen at 7:53:59! They were able to spend some time with my husband and I before being taken to the NICU. Little Ellen needed some warming up! Their big sister Caleah was so excited to come see them before they went into the NICU and kept saying "She's so cute" when she got to hold one of the babies.
Liam & Ellen ended up having to stay in the NICU for a few days because they weren't able to regulate their blood sugars. The nurses kept trying to ween them from their IV fluids, and just when everything looked good, their sugar would crash again, but other then that they did such a fantastic job and before long we were able to bring them home.
We have truly been blessed by these two babies in our lives, and while I hold these two precious angels in my arms I often reflect on the lyrics to my dad's favorite song, "I believe there are angels among us, sent down to us from somewhere up above, they come to you and me in our darkest hours, to show us how to live, to teach us how to give, to guide us with a light of love."
